Memento Istanbul: Hristoff Family Archive exhibition, which consists of photographs, paintings, personal belongings and objects that a family of three generations of artists have accumulated over the years, opened at Yapı Kredi Culture and Art. Memento Istanbul: Hristoff Family Archive, which focuses on the history of a city as well as a family, can be visited between 31 March – 7 August 2022.
While the objects we collect and value determine our pleasures and interests, history, and our existence, They also mediate the telling of our family heritage and stories. These memories, which are valuable for us materially and spiritually, prove that we are “here”.
Curators of the exhibition are Peter Hristoff, Elif Erdoğan, Yeşim Demir Pröhl. Objects collected from the Hristoff Family Archive are accompanied by paintings from the collections of Pera Museum, Rahmi Koç Museum, Yapı Kredi, Nur and Selçuk Altun, Ömer M. Koç, Emel and Bülent Korman, and Ayşegül and Ömer Özyürek.
The exhibition, which can be visited on the second and third floors of the Yapı Kredi Culture and Arts building in Galatasaray between March 31 and August 7, 2022, features the story of the Hristoff Family and the works of artists who are friends with archive materials. The works of Aliye Berger, Ali Sami Boyar, İbrahim Çallı, Hayri Çizel, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Zeki Faik İzer, Zeki Kocamemi and Şerif Renkgörir can be seen in this section, where the family’s ties to the art scene of the early Republican years are explained. In the next part, there are works produced by Peter Hristoff inspired by Istanbul.
During the exhibition, speeches, interviews, workshops, concerts, performances, and activities, including city tours, will be held at Yapı Kredi Culture and Arts’ headquarters in Galatasaray and on social media platforms.
